| Back in the day we used sickle sections that had the serrations on the bottom side. Also had runners underneath on drive end of section that could be adjusted to hold the bar higher off the ground. Also ran special Guard in middle & end that would hold bar up as well. Havent seen those type guards for years. We had IH mowers that mounted to the draw bar of a IH H tractor, iirc # 27ss. Ran tractor in 4th gear slightly above above 1/2 throttle, about 4 mph. Dont run PTO so fast that mowers sounds like its comingnapart.
I still have a CIH #1300 mower I use on creek banks. Grass needs to be dry or it's a pita to cut and need to run slower. Also I run bar so guards are tilted slight up and use the "triple" section on the end. | |
