East Central Ia | Bought a New Idea sickle mower off an estate sale last week. looking for some cheap hay equipment to make 10 ish acres of hay for the kids sheep, goats...
It was in rougher shape then I realized but a couple days in the shop off and on and I have it working. I rebuilt the cutter bar with all new top serrated sickle sections and guards.
It did not have the outside grass board on it so I picked up a generic aftermarket one at the local farm store.
It seems to plug up... a lot lol!
I don’t have a manual for it.
What’s the best way to set the grass board?
What about sickle angle?
It does not have an end sickle section, the section and half style ones, just a regular section. Does this matter?
How do you find the sweet spot for ground speed and pto speed?
It seemed to work ok in the waterway I was testing it in that was baked by a neighbor a week or two ago so not very tall.
I tried to knock down pretty thick 3’ tall grass around a building and couldn’t go 10’ without plugging? | |
