Subject: RE: Noise Canceling Earbuds

NE Iowa
Just went through this myself. Bought a pair of Sony 1000XM3 earbuds. They work pretty decent, but not sure they work well enough to justify the $200+/- price tag. There is a noticeable sound reduction with the noise cancelling active, and I’ve had no issues with them falling out when working (running chainsaw, weed eater, etc). One thing that is a little annoying is if I twist my head, it slightly impacts the seal in my ear and lets through some ambient sound.

I have never used noise cancelling over-the-ear headphones, so can’t really compare to that. I was hoping that these earbuds would simply block all noise and ‘create quiet’. They don’t do that, but they do dramatically reduce the ambient sound level.

BTW - I went with earbuds as I wanted to wear a wide brimmed hat, so couldn’t wear normal headphones.
