Nope, 2nd guessing every minor decision in your life - is not a life.

I think way too many people are focusing on the second question and ignoring the first, if you do everything possible to help protect others to begin with, there should be no second guessing.

I don't consider protecting others to be a "minor" decision.

I took my family to South Africa for three weeks during flu season three years ago. My grandpa was in a home in town; we visited him every week. As we were about to leave for Africa, flu was really picking up the pace locally. We were worried that the kids might give my grandpa the flu and/or worried the kids might catch the flu at the old folks home. I left the kids home the last time I went to see my grandpa right before we left, playing it safe “doing everything possible” to protect everyone.

My grandpa died while we were away. He and my kids missed their last chance to see each other. I regret that to this day.

So to answer your first question, “doing everything possible” can bite you just as hard as not.
