Here in the East common this time of year. Plant the beans get enough moisture for them to germinate .They. Have just enough moisture to sprout but not enough to keep going and they die. If they sprout and die they look like they rotted. Maybe the different results from the varieties would be Maybe the one variety could sprout and keep going with the limited amount of moisture and the other 1 could not. Or maybe the one variety sprouted and died Any other variety waited till it had ample rainfall and only germinated then and could keep going..... This is a common problem here with double crop beans, And you cannot plant 3" deep in late June and July
