Subject: Double crop soybean question

Medford, OK
This happened to a buddy of mine and it has me curious as we can’t figure how it happened. Got through wheat harvest and ground was dry. Friend went ahead and planted beans in dry dirt. Sat in dry dirt for a week or so before getting rain. Beans were not treated. Week after the rain he noticed his stand was spotty so dug in seed trench and found moldy rotten bean seed. What would cause this? It was only on one variety. His other variety came up with a near perfect stand across the road. This also happened to another neighbor that planted the same variety as well with the same planting conditions. Don’t have any pics.

Location north central Oklahoma.
No tilled into wheat stubble with air drill

Thanks

Devin
