Scroll down to the Face Masks section.
"In our systematic review, we identified 10 RCTs that reported estimates of the effectiveness of face masks in reducing laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the community from literature published during 1946–July 27, 2018. In pooled analysis, we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.51–1.20; I2 = 30%, p = 0.25)"
They don't work for this purpose. Again they are great for cleaning out the bin or sanding drywall. Not for stopping a virus.
These studies were done in multiple countries and at different time periods. We have been trying to stop viruses for a long time. Not even the legendary N95 is going to stop everything. Even better is suddenly the cute cloth mask your grandma made is going to do it? | |
