My grandfather would say the same thing. They had a lot of wisdom from life experiences/hard and good times and I am blessed some of it was passed down. “A bird in the hand is worth two in the Bush” is another example when I questioned selling grain too soon in a up market or when prices were above breakeven but in a down tread.
