Subject: Wheat after drought corn

E. Kansas
I'm assuming my corn will be toast, due to a lack of moisture. Hopefully I am wrong, but I am trying to get a plan just in case. We have had .65 in June, and no rain in sight. It has pretty much used up the reserves from our wet May.

I am thinking it would possibly be a good idea to plant wheat (instead of soybeans next spring) into the corn to try and utilize the remainder of the nitrogen (NH3 applied in April). I post applied 1 QT Cinch ATZ and 3 oz Callisto June 6. (I also applied about the same mix preemerge mid April, but had lots of rain in May.) Will this be an issue if wheat is planted around Oct 1, assuming the remainder of the summer is on the dry side?

Or is this a bad idea and should I just plant possibly a wheat or rye cover and go to soybeans next spring?

Thanks
