Back when I ran diesel pumps I went 500 hours with testing, synthetic blend oil.
One thing we found was that some engines samples would come back with high soot levels due to the exhaust/ intake stack arrangement and prevailing winds. After we relocated the intakes we could run far longer without getting high soot levels in the samples.
