That is some of that hedonic adjustments made to our inflation numbers where we get so much better appliances than we had in the past the extra cost is offset by our greater enjoyment and function so the fact that they cost more is not really inflation of price. They don't take into account the things only last half as long. They are more "energy efficient" but I wonder just how energy efficient it is to have to manufacture new ones every five to ten years.
