Thanks for the encouragement. These have only had 1.5" since planting on 6/3. Was just barely dry enough to work ground then though.

What is surprising is how spotty it is. One row will look perfectly normal and the next over will be like this. Kinda wondering if I am seeing my tire tracks from mowing hay a year ago when the water table was at or very near the soil surface. I dug some this morning and was finding moderate compaction from 2-6." Termination of the grass sod last fall and the rye this spring was with a rotavator at 2" deep.
