As for my experience, it needs to be seeded early (a week or two before average first frost). That means prior to October 1. It will not control giant ragweed, or perennials. It may suppress mild infestation of perennials enough to grow good soybeans, but your nutsedge, Canada thistle, or quackgrass will be thicker the next year.
I am trying to shuffle my rotation so I don't seed the rye after corn. So I am trying it again, but I am ready to pull the plug any time it is not a good enough rye stand in the spring. | |
