Northern Ohio | My goal is to grow a cover and a crop at the same time in the same field, then more cover growing when the crop is not growing. I’m trying to increase biomass and nitrogen fixing, without sacrificing too much crop yield. I have seen great benefits with increased “live” organic matter, I want to enhance that. Fixing N will reduce purchased N.
I also hope to do some with strip till. That will reduce tillage trips And required HP. Closer plants within the row help with weed control. Flame cultivating 60” rows takes half the propane.
If I feed the soil, the soil takes care of me. I want to super feed the soil with something growing all the time. | |
