Rudolph, WI | Actually, credit cards are more convenient and can pay back around 2% of all purchases. Fleet Farm pays back 4%. Amazon up to 5%. We use cards any way possible, nearly all groceries, restaurants, fuel for car, truck, tractor, combine, 5 cell phones, internet, medical & prescription bills, farm machinery parts, electric bill, one of the coops in our area allow payments of up to $1500/month before any extra fees, Our family gets paid around $1500 year to use credit cards. Pay bill online from checking account, so no check or stamp there either. Average over 20 day delay after purchases before need to pay the bill. All transactions download into Quicken automatically and accurately. I prefer to pay cash and do pay friends with cash, but play the card games. Funny thing though is the very popular cheese store a few miles from us, still refuses to accept any credit cards, forcing a lot of customers to get cash at a neighboring ATM machine, especially out of town folks surprised that a business that size doesn't accept cards.
The shortage of coins is a minor problem, look at the trillions of DOLLARS the fed have been propping up the banks with, especially over the last 9 months. Then, include the additional trillions dollars passed out to businesses lately, plus the free $1200 checks to individuals. | |
