Northern Nebraska | You are correct not many folks euthanized anything. Market hog numbers are up. Sows for breeding was only down .7% I would call that unchanged. Especially when pigs per litter was up.
Looks to me like the industrial pork producers are about the same as the corn farmer in Iowa. The corn farmer in Iowa says they do not have a market for much of anything but corn and soybeans and the biggest hog companies have so much invested in infrastructure and genetics they can't stop making pigs.
Are there many independent pig farmers in Canada?
