Central Nebraska | durallymax - 6/28/2020 11:49 The simple plug n play setups like Amplifi are great but asking them to mesh an entire farm is a bit much. The UAP-AC-M works well but is not plug n play and again, meshing an entire farm may be a bit much. Each hop degrades quite a bit. If it's a small farm it might work. Anything bigger you probably will need PtMP with APs.
This here is probably the most correct answer so far. I'll add to it a bit.
The Unifi system is great and the Mesh radios do exactly that but with every hop you loose some capacity. The "correct" way to do it would be to use AirMax radios to build point to point backhaul links to each Access Point radio and if you need additional coverage on the fringes add another mesh radio there. This way you don't mesh multiple hops and loose capacity. My network covers about 5 miles from end to end but I use AirMax radios for the majority of it and Unifi radios only for short range normal wifi stuff. |
