Years ago, we just replaced the gears on our 707 with OEM 1000 RPM gearss, but changed the knuckle on the PTO from 1000 to 540 and it worked just fine. We used it on a 4010 John Deere with 540 RPM PTO and it cut just fine at that slower RPM speed.
