That isn't the case but I'll give you an answer and that is "No". But.....but.....but....why? I'll tell you why. First and foremost markets are futures markets so I have no way of knowing what price I will get when I market my grain within a two year period. It might be less than when I plant but it could also be significantly higher. If that happens I left a lot of money on the table by trying to produce less. Second and here is what most people don't get is you have to consider every way the government has their hands in this thing. You have crop insurance which we know is based off of your APH. Nuff said. The MFP payments were in some cases tied to bushels, PLC, LDP and on and on. Controlling more bushels can be extremely advantageous even when prices are not good. This idea that people are cutting inputs to get less yield is hogwash. Maybe in fringe areas but not in large producing areas with good dirt.
