Subject: RE: Vidalia onion storage ???

East Central Arkansas

Store in refrigerator. In the past we have raised a large onion patch in our garden. After allowing the onions to air dry and cure under a open shed I store in old chest type refrigerated drink box. It will hold several hundred lbs. I put the onions in the tight woven 50 lb rice bags for containment in the storage box. I will see temperatures on thermometer  in box anywhere from 32 to 45 F. The low side temp does concern me some but hate to start messing with the thermostat. Should get at least 6 months storage if good when put in cold storage. These were short day and intermediate day onions. I think the Red Candy was the best one storing.
