I don't understand why people will plant weeds with Alfalfa?   Maybe 5#  but 50?   Seed Alfalfa clean & it will always out perform any seeded with weeds. 



You can’t be serious? There’s over 2billion acres in the US and I doubt they all have the same soil type/annual precipitation. For example here we don’t get enough rain for alfalfa to canopy before the weeds get established. Planting oats as a nurse crop will shade the weeds out and give an overall better stand of alfalfa in years to come. Alfalfa planted straight has failed to even peak out from lack of moisture while weeds pop up throughout the field and the only thing a person can do is mow them down before they seed out. Keep in mind we’re only one state line apart, always is a pretty strong word.
