Subject: Adding corn to Sorghum Sudan silage

nw NC
As I was planting some sorghum-sudan today to thicken up some poor stand areas in recently planted silage corn, I got to thinking about just growing S-S (or forage sorghum) alone instead of corn. Seed cost savings alone ( planted in rows not drilled or broadcast) would be a savings of about $84/acre, (S-S at $35.00 for 50lb/bag compared to corn at $270/bag). That savings would buy 21 bushels of $4.00 corn. Forage sorghum seed cost savings would be about $63/acre .

How much corn grain (weight) would need to be added to a weight of sorghum-sudan silage (or forage sorghum) to make one ton of mixture that would be equal in feed value (energy) to one ton of corn silage? XXXX lbs S-S silage plus YYY lbs corn grain = 2000lbs

I found this site: https://animal.ifas.ufl.edu/corn_silage_forage_field_day_extension/2...
but it did not give any info that tells me how to calculate what I want to know.
