Unrelated to the accident -- I've got the same skid-loader, but have never handled bales with it.
What size and weight are those bales, and how well does the 1840 handle them?
I have the same skid loader. Handles 1000 lb 5x5 dry bales very well. I bought some 13-1400 lb 5x6 bales a winter or two ago and you can move them around, but stay on the flat and be very careful.
