A lot to check. How much play in the discs as you turn them, how worn the cover discs are, the skids, make sure the frame isn't bent or welded, and discs are timed correctly. It's best to have it mounted to a tractor and run it. Massey is a good more, not a fan of krone or the Deere. Don't buy a rhino disc mower, frontier, and some others.I sure one by one that's 10 to 15 years old or was used in Moab ditch Banks. The the bars with individual units are going to be heavier and really need a larger tractor on them the handle the weight for lifting and turning versus the open gear bars. The open gear bars are fine for smaller tractors. The key thing on open gear mower is to not run at long periods of time with the bar angled up or way down because you're an gears will run out of oil and get hot.
