All of those add up to a little more milk, and the market can absorb a little more milk. Doubling the number of cows adds up to a lot more milk, that's what the market can't handle. It used to be that if you wanted to milk more cows you either had to be really good at raising heifers and keeping cows milking for a few extra years, or you had to have deep pockets to buy from the people who were good. Now any schmuck with a checkbook can buy as many springing heifers as he wants.
Yep I can remember when a day old Holstein heifer was worth $500. Now what $75 maybe? |
