East central Iowa | 45 years ago I showed a heifer at our county fair. The judge placed me in the middle of the class because he said "COW was written all over the side of her" She stayed in the herd for 10 or 12 years producing the biggest, fastest growing calf every year.
That was the last time I showed any beef animals. I was a dumb kid and thought a "cow" was the end game for a heifer.
We were doing pelvic scores way back then also.
Our goal was high quality steaks on the grill and the money would follow.
As far as performance. Calve in March, Sell next May at 1200 lbs. plus, by June they were all gone. I know they want bigger now.
