The killer "here" is lack of water holding capacity on a lot of soils. We were dry very early, then caught up, and have since dried out.

The upper, left edge of yellow probably follows the Kankakee river. There were areas in that area that absolutely got hammered with water a month ago (6-9 inches), so you get the fun of ponds and replant and now it's getting dry.

Crazy year...again. I fired up pivots after sidedressing ammonia earlier this week. After spraying Memorial Day weekend I would have guessed I wouldn't need to water till end of June.
