Subject: RE: Dry sorghum sudan grass

I just baled 167 5x5.5 . Should get my hay report back soon, mailed it off Monday. Mine didn't weigh as much as grass bales even though they are tight. Guessing around 1000lbs. Will weigh a load and take weight and feed value into consideration. Highly doubt it but I was also wondering if it is 12% protein or higher why not feed out some calves on it. Put them in a good pasture with freechoice bmr hay. Have had good results with good pasture and 13.5% creep feed 5 lbs a head 3 times a week. Not sure what I am going to do with mine.
Did post them on Facebook and some guy wanted 100 at $65 a bale. But if you figure in your costs $65 ain't much.
I figure 2 tillage passes at $10 an acre
Seeding it cost me about $50 an acre
Fertilizer cost me $30
Baling it up about $20 even though I custom bale at $30.
So $120 an acre cost into it. Soni have about $30 a bale into it. Maybe more like $40.

Sorry for the rant just not sure either.

Edit I mis calculated. I charge $30 a bale to custom bale. So let's say $20 and the 4 bales an acre that's $80 an acre.
So that changes me to $180 an acre right?
So 180/4 is $45 a bale probably more like 50.
Not sure I want to let it go for $15 a bale.
