Ok....let me correct myself. Weekly crop progress ratings dropped all year to very historically low numbers, but then the national average comes in within 7-8 bushel of an all time record. However you wanna look at it, weekly progress reports are a joke.

Not really, 7 to 8bpa on a national scale is huge. Many on here cannot grasp the concept though that as sample size increases deviation decreases. It's why usda, or anyone else, can take a yield guess before planting and generally come close.
To add also, I agree the crop progress seems inaccurate at times, likely why it doesn't seem to get traded that much.
