I'm curious, not recommended by who? There are some hospitals that downplay CAC because it takes away from more lucrative business like stress tests. Their idea is wait till you have a problem then they can fix it. The CAC gives you information before the problem (heart attack) arises so you can make changes.

I don't know, maybe the information you got was right. But I think it might be good to check with another source. CAC is not universally promoted by the medical community.
