The shaft is coming from the packer. They pay little to buy the livestock (huge supply due to plant slowdowns over the last few months) and jack up the price to the retailers (small meat supply due to said slowdown). It's criminal but they have some game they play every year that makes them $$$$. Gonna get caught sooner or later.
