SE SD | High PH soil that are typically wet and compacted. When they dry up all the salts rise to the top killing off the crop due to lack of oxygen. I've read those spots are toxic to plants as well. Farmers in the area have tried everything from No-till, deep tillage, fertility treatments, etc...Only long term cure seems to be tile, or massive drought. 2018 and 2019 set all time records for rainfall. So these spots are all over & huge this year. | |
