1 hour east of ol cheyenne | We added 1/4 or 3/8 key stock along both strippers to get proper clearance. My dad used to use a dime crosswise at the lower end of striperplates and a nickel at the top crosswise of course. Must be slightly wider at the top to keep from plugging up. This was before that fancy Nancy hydraulic adjustment was available on most headers. He had some crazy ways to set combines but always had clean samples and very little crop damage. Some I remember are two dimes thickness between cylinder bars and conclaves for small grains on the bottom and a nickel for the back or top. 2 nickels thickness for the sieve and 4 on the return portion on small grains as a place to start. Measured between fingers of sieve.
