Central, IA | We'll be there for the 4th. Our kids are 3-9. It will be the oldest's 4th trip.
Try to do Rushmore in the late afternoon/evening. They have a presentation/lighting ceremony that is interesting.
Wind Cave is pretty cool, but there website said it was closed for elevator maintenance.
The railroad in Keystone/Hill City is pretty cool if kids like trains.
Drive the needle's highway. It's probably my favorite part of the area. Hike around Sylvan lake.
We'll spend most of our time in custer state park. The rest of the tourist stuff doesn't really excite me much.
As I said this will be the 4th trip in 9 years. We "may" pay the $20 to get into the crazy horse parking lot. Or we'll just look at it from along the highway like every other time.
