Plan your route to avoid crossing any Reservations except on the interstate. The local tribes are blocking access even just to travel through. It has been a while since I have been out there, my family also enjoyed Cosmos, Homestake gold mine in Lead, the Mammoth dig in Hot Springs, Wall Drug is a must stop tourist trap. Bear Country is pretty neat. I really enjoyed Wind and Jewel caves, but if you have bad knees, they can hurt.
Call ahead to find out if they are open. Last week there were still closed signs on the Wall Drug signs. |
