S.E. Sask. | My nephew uploaded a bit of drone video from the weekend as I was cutting the flattened spring wheat that laid out all winter. Before you ask, yes, I could have straight cut with the combine and saved an operation but it would not have gone well. No pickup reel on the combine so I'd have to crawl slowly and still miss a lot of grain. All the while the combine is running mostly empty wasting fuel. The swather with the Macdon pickup reel got a lot more of the grain off the ground and it handled the badger mounds and mole hills with less trouble than the combine. That allowed me to move right along with the combine picking up that dry brittle swath at pretty much double the speed I did last fall when I tried to straight cut it. . https://youtu.be/zNAjVM1Ta9g |
