I went from Ford to Ram in 2015. Both 1/2 ton crew cab. Have been generally very pleased with the RAM. Have 5.7l Hemi w/ 8 spd. Huge fan of the ramboxes for 2 reasons: the obvious - toolbox storage that is fully accessible without a step or running board; and the ability to rust proof the ‘hidden’ areas over the wheel wells (ramboxes pop out by taking out a dozen screws, or so).
Only real drawback I have found is I think a step backwards with rear suspension. The coil springs seem to create a lot more rear end squat with a heavy payload or trailer tongue weight. Good news is that airbags that go inside the coils are pretty cheap and, knock on wood, seem to be pretty durable. | |
