Eastern Iowa | The thing tests out OK in the yard, works perfectly in fact. But as soon as you encounter a wad of wet hay, the metal detector sets it off and after that it won't consistently operate for 200 feet or more. In recent years I have replaced almost every moving part component to the system short of pulling the magnet. Is it my controller box? I'm pulling my hair out here. I don't think it causes problems in corn silage in the fall--I always chop later--so it makes me wonder if the moisture could be the problem.
