Subject: RE: Thistles in soybeans

N.W. Illinois
Liberty might burn the thistles off but they will come back like nothing happened. Sonic has no activity on thistles. Neither will Flexstar.

The old standby herbicide Basagran, with crop oil, will do a number on Canadian thistles. Basagran is crop safe but will really fry Canadian thistles when the thistles are at bud stage. It takes 2 applications of Basagran to kill the thistles but 1 application will set the thistles back so they are not as competitive.

Fall is the best time to kill thistles. Heavy glyphosate rate will kill them.

I do not know what Basagran cost now. I'm sure there is a generic version.
