Subject: Wheat to sorghum-sudan to wheat, or something else?

NW IL, Mercer County
I’m going to harvest my wheat field in first part of July. I plan on seeding sorghum sudangrass afterward to be wet baled. Typical date for seeding wheat is around end of September. Would 2.5 months be long enough time, between wheat crops with another crop in between, to still maximize wheat yield? Or will I have disease issues? I can just seed another cover crop this fall and plant corn or beans next year but this is a project farm I’m trying to get some summer annual cover cropping opportunities going on for soil health testing.
