Subject: RE: JD 7000 planter upgrades

NE Iowa
What do you mean by heavy duty down pressure springs? I run 2 springs/row - the coil springs that mount to the outside of the parallel arms. Would like to do something different, as cantilevered pins and holes in parellel arms are getting pretty sloppy. Looked at putting the springs that came off an XP row unit, but that would take more fabrication than I'm capable of. Just wondering if there is something out there for the 7000 that is better than what I have.

As far as other upgrades to yours - replacing the guage wheel pivots is good - something with a screw type adjustment instead of shims.

Also take a look at the lift wheel frame pivots (under your main bar). The bushings were shot in mine - replaced them last year. Should be good for another 40 years.
