Southeast Colorado
Yah..........crazy times with this picking winners and losers and all.

I know several ranchers who wait until after the first of the year to sell calves. Some went in that first couple of weeks. Some later into January. Not a pennies difference in the market price but the early ones are out the $100+/hd. We sold about 1/3 of ours in the bonus payment period. They sold by far at a better market price than the ones which sold on April 17th.

Also know another young man who hobby farms. He bought a section of farm/grass with a home on it through FSA. Now he doesn't have to make a payment even when his farm income hasn't been tampered with one bit. He has a good day job and that's what was paying the bills. Still has the good day job and in fact has picked up more hours because of what's going on.

Meanwhile............ some of the businesses in town that have been closed up qualify for something like $1000. After being forced to shut down in an area with basically no Covid.

It'a all driving me insane! Luckily for me though.........it's not a long drive.
