When I was a child back in the 1960's, my father and others would plant millet and soybeans together for a hay crop. It was mowed with a sickle bar mower and then another tractor followed pulling a Cunningham hay conditioner to crush and break the stems of both the beans and millet. Your plan to graze instead of hay should work OK with some soybeans instead of peas.
