When you wrote "put the work in," was that an insinuation that people who take PP decided they could get away with not "putting the work in"? It's not a trick question, but I get the sense from the people that are dead set against PP that it has something to do with laziness or lack of operating funds. I just don't think that's the case for most farmers who choose PP corn rather than planting beans at the corn PP date.
I think some people look at the economics and choose to manage their financial risk by taking PP. Some look at the same circumstances and think they're better off financially by planting. While others still might look at the same situation and determine they are better off financially by not planting but still plant anyway because that's what most of the rest of the herd is doing or just a simple desire to plant no mater what. Everyone's free to make their choice, but I really do not believe the actual workload has anything to do with decision in the vast majority of cases.
