How often is being 100% sold on Dec. 31 a good marketing scenario. This year has more to do with luck than good marketing. Making incremental sales through out seasonal rallies will result in higher net price over the years. Calling people bad marketers for having inventory is hindsighters.
Everyone gets their panties in a bunch over this. No way does this program get unpriced bushels to the point of market highs earlier. I'd be happy if bins were empty but they are not.
Usually being priced out in DEC is not the best marketing move but luck played out this year. By the guys own admission he blew the 2012 rally. I sold a chunk of 2011 corn in 2012 for $8+, can't do that if its priced out in Jan of 2012. But hindsight is 2020 and the past is the past, move forward and quit worrying about what the other guy is doing. |
