NE Indiana | We use shavings and we mix in high cal lime, But we still have to cleanout every couple months. We go through a semi load of shavings every couple weeks we have 280 feeder calves normally 150-500 pounds. 70-100 per pen. For the first month it stays pretty dry in the barns but after the first month it starts adding up and getting wetter in there. Way better than straw but im not sure you could go a year without a cleanout unless you have a pretty decent sized non bedding area for them to stay out on. | |
