Subject: VP30 injection pump

Jewell County KS
On a 2005 Hesston swather with 4.5 Cummins. When I got it out of the shed the other day the yellow engine warning light would come on and the engine would lose power for a few seconds and then light would go out and back to normal operation. This happens randomly. I accessed the codes with the throttle and no codes present. Changed all fuel filters and checked air filter. Still the same. Has mechanical lift pump that seems to pump plenty of fuel. Checked flow from tank and it is fine.

Had a tech out and he said throttle position potentiometer as he said he could wiggle it and make it act up. Changed that today and still has problems.

How do these pumps act if they are failing? I would guess it is very similiar to the vp44's.

I will need to check wires better at the potentiometer tommorow.

Any other suggestions ?
