Kind of like the 50% number...apparently some folks in charge at the USDA deemed it reasonable for 50% of a farmer's grain to be priced by Jan 15 and for 50% of a farmer's grain to not be priced yet. Some folks on this board insist that 100% should be priced by Jan 15, other folks are cool with it if 0% is priced on Jan 15. I'm not sure why some folks are getting all wadded up about it. .


I don't understand why anyone would complain about 50% still unprincipled in January. A person could be marketing under the old standards of the high for your crop is In june the year its growing. Unless there is a weather problem the following June then that could be higher. It would sense to me that you would leave some or half your production to be priced the following June.
