Adding hydraulic would be in the neighborhood of $8500 for parts, mechanical would be around $6200. This is assuming that you have the older style Gen 1 cabling. The MD system is only compatible with Gen 2 cabling, so there's an extra adapter cable in there to make it hook up.
Hydraulic seems to work fine in these, never spectacular, since a lot of times they're pretty light on their toes when the tank is full, so that affects steering. I've never done an MD install on one before, but they usually steer at least as good as the older style hydraulic kits like this 4450 would take, but then you deal with the steering wheel turning constantly in the cab. Some people have no issues with that, and some can't stand it.
