Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana
I just watched the show last week.

First let me say that I raised hogs until 1985, around two thousand a year farrow to finish. Sows were confined in group pens, used farrowing crates, hot nursery, and Cargill open front type finishing buildings. So, I'm not a animal rights type fellow.

I never handled pigs in the farrowing house nor the nursery like those were handled (throwing into holding boxes/scales). This was the only violation the court found...I thought it was stupid, but not criminal.

I did knock runt pigs head into a wall to euthanize them (it was quick).

I used a 22 shell on a down sow or fat hog. To me hanging was ridiculous, and probably was animal cruelty.
